Serengeti Lens Colors

Serengeti offers their patented lenses in two distinct materials:

PhD NXT and Glass.

PhD NXT is a Trivex material.  It is unbreakable, and all PhD lenses are photochromic.   In full sun they get as dark as 9% VLT (Visible Light Transmission)  In low light, or in a car, they lighten to 17% - 20% VLT.  The Polar PhD lenses also have the Serengeti polarized film to kill glare.  There are very few lenses that are both polarized and photochromic.

Glass is very clear, and most scratch resistant lens material.  Glass is also heavier than NXT Trivex and glass is breakable.  Glass may be a good choice for driving or flying.  Because glass can shatter it is not recommended for sports or situations where your eyes could be subject to impact.  More importantly, Glass lenses are not available in the digitally surfaced designs.

SERENGETI POLAR PhD LENSES
For most sunglass manufacturers, developing lightweight lenses that offer optical superiority while resting like a feather on the bridge of your nose would be considered a monumental accomplishment. But they didn’t stop there. Next, they reinvented the way polarized technology is embedded into the lenses. The result, Advanced Polarized Surface Technology™ — an ingenious way to infuse polarization directly onto the back of the lens. It’s leagues beyond conventional film-based polarized lens construction. Never will lenses peel or delaminate, and they retain their crisp photochromic function for decades of carefree use.

POLAR PhD DRIVERS® - Ideal for driving
The Drivers brown-colored lens is designed to provide enhanced contrast and is ideal for driving and outdoor activities, because it adjusts to the changing light conditions and blocks a majority of harsh blue light.
21% transmittance lightened lens / 9% transmittance darkened lens.
96% of blue light blocked darkened state / 92% of blue light blocked lightened state.

POLAR PhD CPG - Ideal for high-glare conditions
The CPG, or Cool Photo Grey lens, is ideal for all weather conditions, particularly harsh glare. With its exceptional polarization properties, it’s clearly not timid when it comes to maximum protection.
17% transmittance lightened lens / 9% transmittance darkened lens.
93% of blue light blocked darkened state / 83% of blue light blocked lightened state.

Made from only the finest materials in the world, Serengeti’s glass lenses provide unsurpassed visual acuity.  And because the advanced technology is molecularly engineered into the glass itself, it does not wear out or wear off.  In an age of disposables, these lenses can last a lifetime.
